Saturday
Pre-covid-19, Saturday nights were our night to eat out!
I looked forward to it every week! No cooking, no dishes and no mess!
Since we aren't eating out in restaurants right now due to the coronavirus it means we have to cook, do the dishes and deal with the mess even on Saturday nights!
It's ok though. What else do we really have to do on a Saturday afternoon when we are social distancing?
Tonight's feast will be pasta with meat sauce, roasted cauliflower and bread. Dessert is Betty Crocker Salted Caramel Brownies.
Every time I use a food item I write it on my shopping list so that I can replace it. It's helping to keep my shopping list and menu plan simple. Just replace and repeat.
I think I am going to make a Target run tomorrow morning at the 9:00 AM store opening again. It feels like it's getting risker and risker to go to the stores but it has to be done. I have prescriptions to pick up. I think the goal is to try to go to the store once a week. I used to pop in and out of the store several times per week prior to the pandemic. It will be interesting to see if I can make this new normal stick. It is certainly a lot more time efficient but it doesn't leave room for spontaneity in meal planning.
Silver lining for the day: I am saving money by not making several trips to the store each week!
