Guilty Pleasures During A Pandemic
Piggy backing off of what I wrote yesterday, comes the thought that in addition to relaxing a bit in regard to lofty goals during this time of covid-19 comes the idea that we also need to allow ourselves a dose of reasonable comfort in whatever form speaks to our souls.
I am not a dietician and I don't put together perfect meals with balanced macro and micronutrients. However, I know enough to get by and I read a lot about proper nutrition. I know how to lose a few pounds in a healthy way and I know what is causing weigh gain when the scale tips that way.
I have the basic My Fitness Pal App on my phone and I use it daily.
I try to put out more calories than I take in.
I like to indulge in sweets and I work for them.
The media is reporting that right now, during this pandemic, comfort food sales are way up!
And, that is ok in my opinion as long as it is being done in a smart and calculated way.
The media is also reporting that we need exercise and fresh air right now more than ever!
I am working off the equation that a good walk = a good dessert!
My family has currently moved ourselves into the habit of spending each evening of social distancing by eating dinner, going for a walk, watching the news for an hour with a cup of tea and then switching gears to a lighter way to end the evening.
We switch the channel on the TV to a mutually agreed upon entertaining show and treat ourselves to dessert!
Vanilla Ice cream and brownies were on the menu last night and will be on repeat tonight.
I personally find myself motivated and propelled throughout the day to make good decisions in regard to both my time and my food choices knowing that I have a yummy evening plan to look forward to!
Enjoy in healthy doses the things that satisfy and comfort you...during the pandemic and thereafter!
Silver lining for today: Less traffic on the streets is allowing me to hear the birds sing when I walk.
